Jr. Chemical Engineering: Crazy Concoctions

Are you ready to learn how to make play dough and more! The Junior Chemical Engineering class introduces our youngest engineers to fundamental concepts of solids, liquids and solutions. Students investigate the properties of several crazy concoctions as they determine which solution combination produces stronger bubbles.  Learn what it takes to turn liquids into solids by making their very own play dough, experience viscosity changes by exploring non-Newtonian fluids such as flub and so much more.

Aerospace engineering: up, up and away

Get ready to explore the field of aerospace engineering! Students will use the Engineering Design Process to design, create, test and refine a variety of flying machines. In this class, students will explore Bernoulli's principle of flight in the design of airplane wings, experience the challenges of building a Mars lander designed to protect a research rover, launch bottle rockets, and so much more in this action packed week. Up, Up and Away!!!

Chemical engineering: mix it up

Are you ready to mix up some concoctions this summer! During the Chemical Engineering class, students design, create, test, and refine various mixtures and solutions with different chemical properties.  They manipulate the speed of chemical reactions through the Engineering Design Process, synthesize their own rocket fuel by using various types of solvents & solutes to affect the rate of reaction, learn about photochemical processing via the light spectrum, and investigate the secrets of polymers. These Jr. Scientist have a blast as they spend the week mixing up concoctions.

LEGO® ROBOTICS 101

During the Robotics 101 program, students will learn the basics of designing, programming, and controlling a fully functional robot. Using LEGO® MINDSTORMS®, mathematical concepts, and engineering principles students will brainstorm, plan, test, and modify sequences of instructions to accomplish a given task. Students will also get the chance to learn the sequence of communication between the robot, and the programmer by collecting and analyzing data using the robot's sensors. What an amazing robotics class.
