Jr. Chemical Engineering: Crazy Concoctions

Are you ready to learn how to make play dough and more! The Junior Chemical Engineering class introduces our youngest engineers to fundamental concepts of solids, liquids and solutions. Students investigate the properties of several crazy concoctions as they determine which solution combination produces stronger bubbles.  Learn what it takes to turn liquids into solids by making their very own play dough, experience viscosity changes by exploring non-Newtonian fluids such as flub and so much more.

Full day students participate in the Engineering class until 11:00 and then they join the Mega Camp for a field trip each day. On Wednesday students will miss class and participate in a field trip to Knott’s Soak City.

Jr. LEGO® WeDo robotics engineering

This class is a perfect mixture of fun and learning using LEGO® WeDo™ Robots.  Students learn all about the animals that they build and about their wild traits!  With LEGO® bricks, students build a hungry alligator, a roaring lion, a drumming monkey, chirping birds, and more!  They also explore fundamentals of coding & programming in order to operate their creations using a laptop computer.

Aerospace engineering: up, up and away

Get ready to explore the field of aerospace engineering! Students will use the Engineering Design Process to design, create, test and refine a variety of flying machines. In this class, students will explore Bernoulli's principle of flight in the design of airplane wings, experience the challenges of building a Mars lander designed to protect a research rover, launch bottle rockets, and so much more in this action packed week. Up, Up and Away!!!

Chemical engineering: mix it up

Are you ready to mix up some concoctions this summer! During the Chemical Engineering class, students design, create, test, and refine various mixtures and solutions with different chemical properties.  They manipulate the speed of chemical reactions through the Engineering Design Process, synthesize their own rocket fuel by using various types of solvents & solutes to affect the rate of reaction, learn about photochemical processing via the light spectrum, and investigate the secrets of polymers. These Jr. Scientist have a blast as they spend the week mixing up concoctions.

LEGO® ROBOTICS 101

During the Robotics 101 program, students will learn the basics of designing, programming, and controlling a fully functional robot. Using LEGO® MINDSTORMS®, mathematical concepts, and engineering principles students will brainstorm, plan, test, and modify sequences of instructions to accomplish a given task. Students will also get the chance to learn the sequence of communication between the robot, and the programmer by collecting and analyzing data using the robot's sensors. What an amazing robotics class.

SOFTWARE ENGINEERING (SCRATCH)

What’s more fun than playing an interactive video game?  Writing one!  Video Sensing allows students to design and program their own video games and then test them.  In this Software Engineering program, students use Scratch to create their own games, art, and musical instruments while exploring coding foundations.  Get up and get moving with Engineering for Kids and Scratch: Video Sensing!

You Ball Basketball camp is recommended to athletes that play AAU, CYO Travel Ball, Park League or players that just want to improve their game. Athletes will work with professional coaches on their individual weaknesses, and learn about sportsmanship, teamwork and confidence on the court in this one-week skills and conditioning camp.

Chris attends the camp daily and works with athletes on teamwork,confidence and personalized trainings to develop great players.  Skills Academy camp is recommended to athletes that play AAU, CYO, Jr. All-American and /or Pop Warner Football.  Athletes will enhance their skills and learn fundamentals in this two-week skills and conditioning program. Although proper tackling form and techniques will be demonstrated, there will be no full contact tackling drills.  At this two-week camp you will be able to come out and see your child's progress in a 7 on 7 scrimmage.

Chris Claiborne brings over 20 years of professional football experience as a player and a coach.  During his college career at USC he was rated Pac-10 player of the year, 1st team All American Freshman, he won the Butkus Award (serving as the only player in California history to ever win this award) and he won the National Defensive Player of the year. As the 9th pick of the first-round draft for the NFL, Chris joined the Detroit Lions. He credits 8 NFL seasons to the Lions, Vikings,  Rams and NY Giants. Since retiring Chris gives back to the community and youth by teaching camps and clinics.

Expose your child to the field of Sports Medicine!

Learn first hand from Certified Athletic Trainer Courtney Watson and her team how to treat, prevent and manage athletic injuries as well as safe and effective rehabilitation techniques. Sports specialists will present students with up to date knowledge about sports diagnosis, preventions and treatments in this hands-on camp. By the end of this fun-filled week your child will learn medical names for body parts, rehabilitation for common sports injuries, how to treat and manage a sprain or break as well as having received CPR and first-aid experience.  They will even get to attend a field trip to the Sparks Game where they will see Courtney in action as she works with the Sparks.

 

Courtney Watson is a certified Athletic Trainer for Professional Athletes. She is the athletic trainer for the Sparks and also works with NBA players and professional boxers.  She and her team work with students and athletes teaching Sports Medicine through a comprehensive hands-on curriculum that students LOVE. Don't let your child miss out on this incredibly fun and enriching experience.

 

Recommendation: This camp is highly recommended for all student athletes or students interested in the medical field. The training students receive allows them to gain an advance skill on how to treat and prevent physical sports injuries.  Jr. Athletes also learn that there is another option to working in the sports field if they do not make it professionally.  Your Jr. Athletic Trainer will have a blast and learn tons of valuable information.

Are you just looking for Morning Academics?  Well look no further, CB4K is now offering our academics from 8:15AM – 11:15AM daily for students that are not enrolled in camp. We find fun and unique ways to help our students focus on upcoming grade level English and Math skills and review materials from previous grades to get ready for FALL.

 

Morning Curriculum

CB4K offers a review of grade level material as well as an introduction into concepts that students will need to know for the incoming school year.  Our academics allow students to work on fundamentals and core concepts that typically provide challenges during the school year.  Our academics focus on math drills, writing prompts, reading comprehension and common core standards.

 

CB4K’s mission is to keep students brains stimulated throughout the summer without overwhelming them with work. We understand it is summer break so we do not give homework or test during summer classes.  We believe that 2.5 – 3 hours of work each day is enough to retain and develop core academic skills.

30-MINUTE SEMI-PRIVATE SWIM LESSONS

Sign up for swim lessons today!!! Swimmers will develop and strengthen swimming skills. They will focus on breathing, swim strokes, techniques and training methods. Limited Spaces Available!!! 

 

Swim lessons take place in the morning during academic instruction. Please see the swimming sign up sheet for details. Lessons are open to anyone. Please contact 424-235-0356 if you are not a camp participant and would like to enroll for swim lessons. Lessons must be scheduled with College Bound 4 Kids and paid in full at the time of scheduling. Swim lessons and reg fee are non-refundable.
